Hoya Sunrise

Sunrise is a hybrid from the 1990s with the delightful Hoya lacunosa as one of its parents (hence its sweet fragrance). Its notable for the coloration the foliage can take on in high light levels. Though it’s slow growing, it’s also adaptable, so Sunrise is ideal for you if you’re a beginner or have been growing houseplants for decades.

For it to thrive, give your Sunrise Hoya an abundance of bright light inside (inside, the more light, the better). In most areas, it can take some direct sun coming through a window, especially if you give it a chance to acclimate to the more direct light. Sunrise Hoya tolerates medium and lower light levels, though it won’t look as good, grow as fast, and may not bloom well or at all. Water it as the top 50 to 75 percent or so of the potting mix dries to the touch. Sunrise Hoya thrives in average to above-average household temperatures; keep it above 55F for best results. Average to above-average relative humidity levels are just fine, too.
